Egyptian Cotton Sheets
Superior®'s Egyptian cotton sheets are woven in a sateen weave — long-staple Egyptian cotton fibers woven for a smooth, slightly lustrous finish that feels cooler and drapes softer than percale. They come in thread counts from 650 to 1500, in deep-pocket, striped, and embroidered styles.
- 650–850 thread count — substantial, silky-smooth and breathable — Buy for everyday comfort with lasting durability.
- 1000–1200 thread count — noticeably smoother, denser weave — Buy for a hotel-style upgrade.
- 1500 thread count — the most refined, weighty feel — Buy for a top-tier bedroom.
- All are sateen weave, not percale — Skip this collection if you specifically want a crisp, matte percale feel.

Sateen vs. Percale: Which Egyptian Cotton Weave Fits You
Sateen weave (what every sheet in this collection uses) packs more threads over each other for a smoother, slightly glossy surface that drapes close to the body and runs a bit warmer — the classic "hotel sheet" feel. Percale is a plain, tighter weave that feels crisp and matte, and sleeps cooler. Superior carries both, but they're different product lines: this collection is Egyptian cotton sateen. If crisp and matte is what you're after, our percale sheet sets are cotton or organic cotton rather than Egyptian cotton.
Choosing a Thread Count
- 650–850 TC: Substantial, silky-smooth, and breathable—an ideal balance of everyday comfort, rich texture, and lasting durability.
- 1000–1500 TC: The heaviest, most luxurious feel in the range, including extra-deep-pocket and embroidered options for larger mattresses.

Care & Maintenance
- Machine wash cold or warm on a gentle cycle; avoid bleach.
- Tumble dry low, or line dry to extend the life of the sateen finish.
- Wash before first use — natural fibers can shrink slightly.
- Skip fabric softener on high thread counts — it can dull the natural sheen over time.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is Egyptian cotton sateen or percale?
Egyptian cotton can be woven either way, but Superior's Egyptian cotton sheets are all sateen — a smoother, slightly glossy weave. Our percale sheets use cotton or organic cotton instead.
What thread count should I buy?
650–850 TC covers everyday use well. Go 1000 TC or higher if you want a noticeably smoother, denser feel, and 1500 TC for the most refined option in the range.
Are all sheets in this collection 100% Egyptian cotton?
Most are. A few sets in the lower thread counts are a blend of Egyptian cotton and long-staple combed cotton — the exact composition is stated on each product page, so check the one you are buying.
Do higher thread counts always mean better quality?
Not necessarily above a certain point — fiber quality and weave matter as much as the raw thread count number. Long-staple Egyptian cotton at 650 TC can outperform a lower-quality 1000 TC sheet.
Are these sheets deep pocket?
Several thread counts in this collection come in deep-pocket and extra-deep-pocket versions, sized for thicker mattresses.
How do I keep Egyptian cotton sheets soft?
Wash on a gentle cycle in cold or warm water, skip the fabric softener, and tumble dry on low or line dry.
