Our cotton coverlets are machine washable. As a helpful tip, our coverlets are made from natural fibers and you should expect a 5%-8% shrinkage due to the nature of the fibers when washing.

Shrinkage can be reduced by always washing in cold water and drying in low heat. For the most luxurious results, always follow care label instructions.

1. What makes a matelassé weave unique compared to traditional quilted bedspreads

Matelassé is a master jacquard weaving method that creates raised, dimensional patterns on the loom without relying on stitched internal batting or polyfill. This produces the sculpted look of a quilt while maintaining a much lighter, more flexible drape that conforms comfortably to your body and bed without unwanted bulk.

2. Can this coverlet be used by itself, or is it strictly meant for layering?

Its balanced medium-weight construction makes it a true all-season staple. Throughout spring and summer, it functions as a lightweight, cooling standalone bed cover over your flat sheet. In fall and winter, its textured chevron weave looks striking layered across the foot of the bed or placed over a down alternative duvet for added warmth.

3. How does the cotton and polyester blend perform over time?

The cotton-rich composition gives you the soft, breathable hand feel of pure cotton, while the woven polyester yarns enhance the structural integrity of the fabric. This combination helps the coverlet hold its shape, minimizes stretching or sagging, and provides a smooth, neat appearance wash after wash without demanding high-maintenance care.

4. How should I care for this coverlet to maintain its woven texture?

For best results, machine wash separately in cold water on a gentle cycle. Tumble dry on low heat and remove promptly, or hang to air dry. Avoiding high heat settings protects the raised chevron weave and keeps the fibers feeling soft, supple, and naturally textured without any need for ironing.
